Exercise for Low Back Pain

I prescribe exercises to help complement back pain rehabilitation programmes but I’m often asked what is the single most effective exercise for low back pain.

My answer?

All of them! 

To be honest any of them. Just start moving. Thankfully serious spinal pathology is rare and most spinal conditions and their symptoms can be improved through exercise. Start slow but just make a start. As a rule of thumb if it’s excruciatingly painful you’ll need to ease back a little and find an option that’s less painful.
